IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Best Playing 11

Virat Kohli’s comeback after a big gap in focus as we look at the best possible playing 11 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for IPL 2024.

If we were to talk about the biggest fanbase in the Indian Premier League, the title will unarguably go to the Royal Challengers Bangalore. It is no secret that RCB have a really solid fan following. While Virat Kohli has been the biggest reason for the franchise to have such a big fan following, Bangalore as a city has also been one of the reasons to make this franchise what it is today.

It’s been 16 years and counting in the Indian Premier League, and the RCB team is yet to give something to cheer for, for their fans. They have entered the finals of the Indian Premier League thrice so far. First in 2009, then in 2011 vs CSK, and lastly in 2016. But it’s been 8 years now, but RCB are yet to play a final, forget about winning one. But will things change in the upcoming IPL 2024 season?

Well, RCB as usual does have a solid batting lineup. This has been the DNA of the RCB which has always been a batting-centric team. With Virat Kohli as the only constant, RCB have had some really great batters in the form of Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, etc. But it is the bowling that seems to be the concern area for them. Having said that, let’s look at the best possible playing 11 for RCB for IPL 2024.

IPL 2024 Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Best Playing 11

Starting with the best openers for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, look no other than Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. Faf du Plessis has already made it clear that Virat Kohli will be opening alongside him in IPL 2024. This means Cameron Green will have to play in the middle-order. While it is good to have Kohli and Faf as openers, Green is a more competent player as a top-order player. So, it would be interesting to see how Green adopts as a middle-order batter.

Coming to the middle-order, we should most-likely see Rajat Patidar at 3, Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell at 4 and 5 respectively. As we had said, before, this is one of the best top 5 in the competition. With such a solid top 5, Dinesh Karthik at six only makes it stronger. However, supporting Karthik will most-likely be Lomror, who seems to be the only weak link in the batting.

Coming to the bowling, the impact player rule will make RCB’s job easier. The current batting for RCB is fixed till the number 7 position. Aside from these 7, RCB will have 5 bowling options to look at. While the overseas pacer should mostly see Lockie Ferguson, the rest of the four bowlers should mostly be Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, Vyshak Vijaykumar, and spinner Karn Sharma.

From an overall team perspective, this doesn’t seem to be the most dangerous bowling lineup. On a swinging pitch, the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, and Vyshak Vijaykumar will come in handy. But when it comes to spin-friendly pitches, RCB doesn’t have the arsenal to adapt to such kinds of pitches. The only names they have in the spin department are outdated Karn Sharma and part-timer Glenn Maxwell.

IPL 2024 Best Predicted Playing 11 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)

  1. Faf du Plessis (c)
  2. Virat Kohli
  3. Rajat Patidar
  4. Cameron Green
  5. Glenn Maxwell
  6. Dinesh Karthik (wk)
  7. Mahipal Lomror
  8. Lockie Ferguson
  9. Karn Sharma
  10. Mohammed Siraj
  11. Yash Dayal
  12. Vyshak Vijaykumar (Impact Player)

So, that’s about the best possible playing 11 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) or IPL 2024. Overall, RCB have a solid batting unit, and there are no second thoughts about it. However, when it comes to their bowling, there is huge scope for improvement. The bowling lacks quality and adaptability to spin pitches. If Faf du Plessis can inspire their bowlers, RCB can go a long way, else Playoffs may also be too much for them.
