Mumbai Indians (MI) Updated Best Playing 11 for IPL 2025
Hardik Pandya to lead another season in our updated best playing 11 for Mumbai Indians (MI) for Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Mumbai Indians – the first team in the tournament that has suffered a major injury blow as their premier spinner Allah Ghazanfar has been ruled out of IPL 2025. Ghazanfar, who also didn’t feature in the Champions Trophy 2025 will miss the cricket action for nearly four months. With such a solid spinner gone, MI did get a like-for-like replacement in the form of his countrymate, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
Mujeeb comes with a solid IPL experience, but has been out of contention in the IPL, and his national side. But with Mujeeb added, will things change in the Mumbai Indians camp in terms of their best playing 11 for IPL 2025? Well, a lot has happened since the Auction in last November. Many players are under injury radar, and some players have been in stunning form making a strong case for them to feature in the starting 11.
The Mumbai Indians team looks much stronger than what it was in 2024. With less importance to the Overseas players before the Auction, MI retained an all-Indian core with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav getting retained. During the Auction, the entire focus of Mumbai Indians was to get a solid bunch of Overseas players as they got the likes of Will Jacks, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, etc.

With a solid squad being assembled, and 7 matches at home, Mumbai Indians look favourites to not only qualify for the Playoffs, but also to register their fifth title victory. 2020 was the last time Mumbai Indians won an IPL trophy, and the team is currently facing a trophy drought for 5 years now. But this might just be the year where Mumbai Indians regroup, and play their best cricket under the leadership of Hardik Pandya.
IPL 2025 Mumbai Indians (MI) Best Possible Playing 11
If we talk about the best possible playing 11 for Mumbai Indians, we might see some change in terms of the opening partner for Rohit Sharma. Given the stunning form that Rickelton is in currently, expect Ryan Rickelton to not only keep wickets, but also to open alongside Rohit Sharma, thus making up for a stronger left-right attacking opening combination for IPL 2025.
The middle-order should see the regular Indian duo of Suryakumar Yadav at 3 and Tilak Varma at 4. However, the team might look for the experience of Will Jacks at 5, thus giving them another attacking batting option at the number 5 position. With Will Jacks there, MI will get a solid batting lineup till number 5, and Hardik Pandya following them at the 6th position. If MI feature this batting lineup, it has got to be the strongest batting-order in the competition.
For the lower-order, MI will rely on Hardik Pandya, floater Naman Dhir, and all-rounder Mitchell Santner. This is a solid batting lineup with batting till the number 8 position. Similarly, all three, Hardik, Naman, and Santner can give valuable 2-3 overs per match. Supporting them in bowling shall be Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, and Karn Sharma among the primary bowling options.
IPL 2025 Updated Best Playing 11 for Mumbai Indians (MI)
Rohit Sharma, Ryan Rickelton, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Will Jacks, Hardik Pandya (c), Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult & Jasprit Bumrah.
Impact Substitute: Karn Sharma
Overall, Mumbai Indians have a heavy batting lineup that can disturb even the best bowling lineups in the competition. The bowling might be a slight concern area for MI, only if Jasprit Bumrah and Deepak Chahar are under injury radar. If Bumrah and Chahar are fit enough to feature in at least 70-80% of the matches for IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians can go a long way in the tournament.
