IPL 2025: 11 Standout Best Overseas Players of the Tournament

An aggressive batting lineup on cards as we explore the 11 best Overseas players who impressed the most in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

The Indian Premier League is a tournament that showcases some of the most dangerous Overseas players in the tournament. Unlike the Indian players’ contingent where we see players across all age brackets, the Overseas players are rare entities in the IPL, and thus we get more quality among Overseas players as compared to the Indian players. Since demand for Overseas players is less, and supply is high, teams only focus on adding quality names to their side.

The IPL 2025 has once again been a solid year for the Overseas players. Right from openers to middle-order batters to finishers to bowlers, we have seen some outstanding performances from this set of players. So, in this article, we take a look at the combined best playing 11 for the Overseas players with names across each category for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

IPL 2025: 11 Standout Best Overseas Players of the Tournament

#1: Phil Salt

The first player on the list is Phil Salt, and what a fabulous year this has been for Phil Salt, who steered the RCB’s ship from the start. Salt’s aggressive approach combined with good consistency helped RCB throughout the tournament. Overall, Salt scored a solid 403 runs from 13 innings at an average of 34, and a solid strike rate of 176. The good thing is Salt scored four fifties, which shows he was also consistent with this aggressive approach.

#2: Mitchell Marsh

The second player on the list is Mitchell Marsh, who registered his best IPL season with regard to performance. Marsh along with Markram and Pooran guided the sinking ship of LSG. Overall, Marsh’s consistency was the standout as he scored a stunning 6 fifties and 1 brilliant hundred in his 627 runs from 13 innings. Aside from a brilliant strike rate of 164, Marsh also maintained a good average of 48, while batting as an opener.

#3: Jos Buttler

The third player on the list is Gujarat Titans’ Jos Buttler, who was one of the most important players for the Gujarat Titans team. Even amidst a terrific opening combination of Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, Jos Buttler made his presence felt with a stunning season. Buttler, more often than not continued the momentum that Sai and Gill had been providing. Overall, he scored 538 runs from just 13 innings at a solid average of 60.

#4: Nicholas Pooran

One of the best middle-order batters in the competition, Nicholas Pooran was absolutely breathtaking to watch. Undoubtedly he was the most aggressive Overseas batter in the competition striking at almost 200. Even with such blistering batting, Pooran scored over 500 runs, which is a fabulous achievement. Needless to say, Pooran was able to justify his 21 Cr price tag.

#5: Heinrich Klaasen

Coming to the finishers, we start with the most expensive Overseas player of IPL 2025, Heinrich Klaasen. Klaasen wasn’t in his old self in this IPL, but he still managed to score close to 500 runs. Given the lack of runs from SRH’s openers, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, Klaasen was promoted up the order for most of the matches. Even as Klaasen looked out of form, he delivered his best season yet with 487 runs at a stunning strike rate of 173.

#6: Dewald Brevis

If there is one player who came in the second half of IPL 2025, but started delivering right from the first match, and that too as a finisher, it is Dewald Brevis. Brevis played as a finisher for CSK – a new role that he played in the IPL. Walking the same path as AB de Villiers, Brevis scored a solid 225 runs from just 6 matches at a stunning strike rate of 180. These are fabulous numbers for someone batting at 6. With Brevis showing great potential as a finisher, expect him to have another solid show as a finisher for CSK in IPL 2026.

#7: Marco Jansen

Coming to the best Overseas all-rounder of the tournament, we are looking at Marco Jansen. While Jansen didn’t get to bat a lot in this tournament with 75 runs to his name, he was superb with the ball with 16 wickets to his name from just 14 matches. Jansen also overpowered Arshdeep Singh in the bowling, and was often trusted to bowl the most difficult overs, and he did deliver for his Captain.

#8: Sunil Narine

8th Overseas player on the list is Sunil Narine, who once again had a decent year unlike the blockbuster IPL 2024, where he was the MVP. Narine scored close to 240 runs, and took 12 wickets in PL 2025; thus justifying his all-rounder tag. Overall, these are decent numbers, but since there was no other competition, he stands out as the second-best all-rounder in the competition.

#9: Josh Hazlewood

Coming to the best pacer of the competition, it is no other than Josh Hazlewood, whose consistent line and length not only helped the RCB team, but also showcased his ability to take wickets at regular intervals. Often the go-to man for Rajat Patidar for breaking the partnership, Josh didn’t disappoint a bit as he managed to take 22 wickets from just 12 innings with a strike rate of 12 – the best in the competition.

#10: Noor Ahmad

Talking about the best spinner in the competition, we are looking at Noor Ahmad, who delivered a blockbuster season with the ball for CSK. Noor, who earned the tag of a wicket-taker managed to take 24 wickets from just 14 innings. Similar to Hazlewood, Noor was the go-to man for Ruturaj and Dhoni for breaking the partnership. He was also close to Hazlewood with a strike rate of just 12.5.

#11: Trent Boult

Finally, completing the bowling line-up, we have Trent Boult as the second-best pacer in the competition. Boult complemented Jasprit Bumrah pretty well with 22 wickets from just 16 innings. Unlike previous years where Boult was mostly used in Powerplay, he bowled in all phases of the match this year, and that resulted in more wickets for Boult. The only thing that Boult will have to work on next year is his Economy rate, which is on the higher side.
