The year 2024 was almost a revamp year for the Sunrisers Hyderabad after a slump of almost 4 years. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, the team reinvented themselves, and found themselves in the first final since 2018. Unfortunately, the Kolkata Knight Riders storm was too much for them to handle, and they had to settle for the Runner-up position.

But just when it felt Sunrisers Hyderabad were getting back in the groove, the team will now face a tough challenge in the form of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The team will now have to let go of most of their key players due to Auction limitations. Usually, they would have liked to retain almost 12-14 players. But BCCI won’t allow more than 6 players, and that would be a big challenge for the team.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad are also one team that has quality Overseas players on their side in IPL 2024. Except for a couple of those players, SRH would also like to retain the other quality options. So, assuming SRH get a free hand in terms of players they would like to have for the upcoming season, let’s look at the dream squad list for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for IPL 2025. 

IPL 2025 Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Squad List Bifurcation

The Sunrisers Hyderabad team already had a strong core that performed well for them in IPL 2024. So, among the ones they would definitely want in their side are Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Reddy, Pat Cummins, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and T Natarajan. These seven players are the core of SRH, and they add brilliant value to all departments of the team. So, SRH would want to have these players at any cost in the Auction.

From the second priority list, the ones that SRH would want in their side, but might regret a bit if they don’t get them. The players like Aiden Markram, Marco Jansen, Umran Malik, Rahul Tripathi, and Shahbaz Ahmed form a part of this list. All these are quality players, but have either not performed to their full potential for SRH, or have not been given the desired opportunities. 

From the third priority list, players like Abdul Samad, Glenn Phillips, Anmolpreet Singh, Sanvir Singh, Mayank Markande, and Fazalhaq Farooqi will be on the radar. These players are either potential players who are making a mark in the Domestic Circuit, or are International players, who rarely get an opportunity to play in the IPL. These are mostly backup players, whom SRH may want to have, but won’t be too disappointed if they don’t have them. 

New Players?

Now, talking about the new players that SRH may look to target, Tilak Varma, who originally hails from the same region will be on the Team’s radar. Tilak may mostly not get retained by MI, and that will give SRH a good opportunity to strengthen their middle order. Other than Tilak, SRH may want to bring in a good spinner line Tabraiz Shamsi, and an uncapped potential pacer like Kartik Tyagi, who started his career with the same franchise. Also, the team will look to add Shubham Dubey and Tanay Thyagrajan to their squad. 

Overseas Players?

In terms of Overseas players, SRH would be happy to retain 7 of the existing 8 players. So, other than Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Aiden Markram, and Heinrich Klaasen, the four first-choice Overseas players, the other three, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Marco Jansen, and Glenn Phillips will also be on the Team’s radar for IPL 2025. In addition to these seven, a spinner like Tabraiz Shamsi will be a welcome change.
