IPL 2025 Best Squad Players List for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

KL Rahul to continue leading the side as we look at the IPL 2025 Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Best Squad and Players list.

The Lucknow Super Giants team has been in news recently, and the reason for that is KL Rahul. It’s been only a few days since the productive meeting between KL Rahul and LSG’s owner Sanjeev Goenka took place. The two held an hour-long meeting to discuss the future roadmap of the Lucknow Super Giants. The meeting seems to have ended on a positive note with a possibility of KL Rahul getting retained by LSG.

If we recall, the two (KL Rahul and Sanjeev Goenka) had a few heated verbal altercations during IPL 2024. With that scenario in mind, it looked as if KL Rahul was contemplating a move outside LSG with RCB being the most preferred destination. RCB were in need of a captain, and KL Rahul could have fitted the bill perfectly. But it seems KL Rahul is likely to stay with LSG after his productive meeting with Sanjeev Goenka.

With KL Rahul at the helm again, the LSG team does look a lot calm and composed. The team still has a lot of quality players in their side, and aside from the retentions that will be 4-6, there will be other players too whom LSG would want to target in the Auction. So, considering the best possible scenario, let’s look at the ideal dream squad and players list that Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) can build for IPL 2025.

IPL 2025 Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) Best Squad Players List

If we talk about the top 6 players who are likely to get retained by Lucknow Super Giants, we are looking at 3 Indian and 3 Overseas players. Starting with Captain KL Rahul, LSG is likely to retain their emerging ace pacer, Mayank Yadav, and India’s regular wrist spinner, Ravi Bishnoi. While KL Rahul will once again lead the side, Bishnoi and Mayank are really solid players to invest in.

Aside from the Indian players, there are three strong Overseas players that LSG would not want to let go. Among the options in front of them, Nicholas Pooran, Quinton de Kock, and Marcus Stoinis are very strong and good options available. All three are potential match-winners, and have been performing really well for LSG. The only question should be their remuneration as retentions have their own set of rules when it comes to the price each player can receive.

Now, aside from the six players who are likely to get retained, among the other players that LSG would definitely want in their side are Ayush Badoni, Krunal Pandya, Mohsin Khan, Yash Thakur, Naveen Ul-Haq, and Arshad Khan. These five players have been regular for LSG, and have done well too. So, if they are not retained, LSG will go to lengths to hire them in the IPL 2025 Auction.

With 11 players already seen, there are 5 more players who have been nurtured by LSG, and may want to continue investing. From the current squad, Prerak Mankad, Arshin Kulkarni, Yudhvir Charak, M Siddharth, and Kyle Mayers will be on LSG’s radar in the Auction.  These players may not get a high price in the Auction, so they will likely stay with Lucknow Super Giants.

Players that LSG will Mostly Release

Having seen the list of 16 players who will be LSG’s hitlist for IPL 2025, they are also likely to release players as they are either not good, or don’t fit the bill anymore. Among the good players that LSG is likely to release are Devdutt Padikkal, Deepak Hooda, Krishnappa Gowtham, Ashton Turner, Matt Henry, Amit Mishra, Shivam Mavi, and Shamar Joseph. Instead of investing in these players, LSG may look for other new players in the Auction.

New Players that LSG will Add

Now, if we analyze the finalized 16-member squad that LSG will look to invest from the current squad, the team is slightly thin in terms of batting. So, to fulfil that, LSG will be very happy if someone like homeboy Nitish Rana, solid finisher Glenn Phillips, a good Indian finisher Shahrukh Khan, and young players like Swastik Chhikara and Madhav Kaushik join the squad. With these additions, LSG is likely to build a solid batting core.

From the Overseas players, LSG may again want to invest in Mark Wood assuming this time he doesn’t ditch the franchise in lieu of injury or red-ball focus. Other than Mark Wood, LSG will have Glenn Phillips, and can look to add someone like Josh Inglis as a backup finisher to Marcus Stoinis or any other Overseas player. With the current five and these three, in addition, LSG’s Overseas players seem to be sorted.
