IPL 2025 Auction Target Players List for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
KL Rahul potential return in our complete official retained players and target auction player list for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for IPL 2025.
17 years, and the unlucky story of Royal Challengers Bengaluru will enter their 18th year. Year after year, the RCB team gave their sweat on the field to capture the trophy that they have been dearly waiting for. However, apart from playing three finals, the RCB team has not faced any success in converting the final. But will things change for them in 2025?
Well, the RCB team has already started their 2025 journey by retaining only three players. This is no surprise in terms of overall strategy considering this is a Mega Auction, and teams usually are not allowed to retain more players. Even then, since six players were allowed to retain, RCB can still use three more RTM cards to get back their existing players.
Having retained only three players, RCB still have a solid 83 Cr left in their Auction kitty. If we look at the history, the RCB team has not done well at the Auction. But with the new think tank, RCB can look to amend ways, and target quality players in the Auction. So, in this article, we take a look at the complete retained, RTM players, and potential target list that RCB will be after in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
IPL 2025 Auction Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Analysis
Retained Players:
- Rajat Patidar – 11 Cr
- Virat Kohli – 21 Cr
- Yash Dayal – 5 Cr
Total Players Retained: 3 // Purse Left: 83 Cr // RTM Cards Left: 3
Royal Challengers Bengaluru retained only three players ahead of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction in the form of Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, and Yash Dayal. RCB retained their longest-serving player and heartthrob, Virat Kohli for a solid 21 Cr – the highest any Indian player has been retained for. RCB also trusted the capabilities of Rajat Patidar, and retained him for 11 Cr. Whereas Yash Dayal has been retained as an uncapped player for 5 Cr.
RTM target List
- Glenn Maxwell
- Faf du Plessis
- Will Jacks
- Mohammed Siraj
- Cameron Green
Now, having retained 3 players, RCB have 3 RTM spots left, and for that, RCB currently have 5 strong options in the form of Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, Will Jacks, Mohammed Siraj, and Cameron Green. The team can target any of these five players as all bring unique capabilities to the table. The selection of the RTM cards will mostly depend on the sequence in which these players are announced.
But from a monetary compensation perspective, Glenn Maxwell can be the costliest of the lot given his Uber success at the international and IPL levels. Expect Maxwell to fetch somewhere around 18 Cr, du Plessis to get somewhere around 8 Cr, Will Jacks to get somewhere around 10 Cr, Siraj to get somewhere around 12 Cr, and Cameron Green to get somewhere around 14 Cr.
If we consider the top 3 players based on their expected Auction price, RCB will get Maxwell, Siraj, and Cameron Green. If RCB get these players, they will have to shell out somewhere around 45 Cr. Now, if 45 Cr get deducted from the kitty, RCB will be left with only 38 Cr. While this strategy does give RCB 6 solid players, it also means that they would be left with only 38 Cr to buy the remaining 12-19 players.
Potential Target Batters
- KL Rahul
- Devdutt Padikkal
- Mayank Agarwal
- Rahul Tripathi
- Nitish Rana
Considering RCB doesn’t go after any RTM option, they will have the freedom to choose any player of their choice, and they will have many options to explore. Among the top options that RCB will have target for, we are looking at KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal. Both these players were a part of RCB before, and to buy these players, RCB will have to spend somewhere around 25-30 Cr. This wouldn’t be a bad option as KL Rahul brings leadership capabilities with him
With these two players added, and a potential RTM option for Maxwell or Green, RCB will have a formidable top 5. Other than KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal, RCB will be after quality batters like Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Nitish Rana, etc., All these are quality batters, and RCB will definitely need at least 1 to 2 players from these to develop strong squad.
Other Potential Target All-rounders
- Marcus Stoinis
- Mitchell Marsh
- Mahipal Lomror
- Marco Jansen
- Romario Shephard
- Krishnappa Gowtham
If RCB doesn’t use RTM on Maxwell, Green, or Will Jacks, then they can target all-rounders like Marcus Stoinis and Mitchell Marsh. While Marcus has been an RCB player before, there is a possibility of LSG using the RTM option on Marcus Stoinis. If they don’t, RCB can look to buy either Mitchell Marsh or Marcus Stoinis. Other than these two, RCB can look at Mahipal Lomror, Krishnappa Gowtham, and Marco Jansen as other potential all-rounders.
Potential Target Bowlers
- Akash Deep
- Harshal Patel
- Mitchell Starc
- Vyshak Vijaykumar
- Yuzvendra Chahal
Now, talking about bowlers that RCB will target, there will be two bowlers that RCB will definitely want to get back. They do have the money, and getting back their old foes, Harshal Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal shouldn’t be an issue at all. However, this will only be possible if RCB doesn’t spend much on RTM. It is no doubt that RTM is a costly affair, and it would be better if RCB is smart enough, and use that money to focus on buying other quality players.
Other than Chahal and Harshal, RCB would like one quality Overseas pacer in their side. While Mitchell Starc, their previous player will be on the radar, it won’t be easy to get Starc given his price, RCB will definitely have him as the target. Other than Starc, RCB would want back Akash Deep and Vyshak Vijaykumar, whom they had invested in the previous IPL.
So, that’s about the complete retained, RTM, and Auction target players for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for IPL 2025. Overall, RCB should use the pending 83 Cr to their advantage. So, instead of spending that money on RTM, RBC can use it wisely to buy the other players of their choice.
