IPL 2025 Gujarat Titans (GT) Dream Trophy Winning Squad List

Shubman Gill to lead his second season as we look at the dream trophy winning squad and players list for Gujarat Titans (GT) for IPL 2025. 

After a dream start to their Indian Premier League career in 2022, the Gujarat Titans team shifted to a transition phase in 2024 as Shubman Gill was asked to lead the team. Hardik Pandya had successfully led the team for two years by finishing as the winner in 2022 and runner-up in 2023, but he made a surprising move by shifting to his former franchise, Mumbai Indians in 2024. The young Shubman Gill led the team well, but couldn’t enter the Playoffs.

But even before Shubman Gill’s journey took off as a leader, he will now have a bigger battle in the form of the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. The team will have their biggest transition yet as they are likely to lose a lot of core players to the other teams if they aren’t allowed to retain. The Mega Auction as we know won’t allow any team to retain more than 5-6 players. In that scenario, GT are bound to lose a few quality players with their only hope to get them back will be the Mega Auction.

Aside from Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans have a lot of quality players in their side like Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, David Miller, Noor Ahmad, Mohit Sharma, Sai Kishore, etc. If possible, GT would have liked to retain all these players, but that’s not going to happen. But what if GT were to build a dream squad for 2025, which players would they be after, and which ones would they want from the existing squad? Well, let’s find the dream trophy-winning squad that Gujarat Titans may build for IPL 2025.

If we start with the players that GT will definitely retain irrespective of the BCCI rules on retention, it will be Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Sai Sudharsan. BCCI for sure will allow teams to retain four players at the very least. With that, Gill, Rashid, Shami, and Sai are solid players whom they would definitely like to retain. All these players are proven match-winners, and not just GT, any team would like to retain these players without a second thought. 

Aside from these four, GT will have the likes of David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Noor Ahmad, Mohit Sharma, and Sai Kishore among the players who will be on their target list in the Mega Auction, if they are not allowed to retain. As we know, these five players form a good core for Gujarat Titans, and it is obvious, GT would want to invest in them, and thus will go aggressive on them in the Auction. 

Apart from these 9 players, Gujarat Titans would want the likes of Joshua Little, Abhinav Manohar, Shahrukh Khan, Wriddhiman Saha, Robin Minz, Darshan Nalkande, and Kartik Tyagi from the existing squad. These seven players were nurtured by Gujarat Titans, and they also played a few matches for the team in IPL 2024. There’s definitely potential in these players, and if not in the playing 11, GT would want them as backups. 

Now, if we talk about the players that Gujarat Titans would not want to see again in IPL 2025, those shall be Kane Williamson, Matthew Wade, BR Sharath, Vijay Shankar, Azmatullah Omerzai, Gurnoor Brar, Sandeep Warrier, Jayant Yadav, Sushant Mishra, Umesh Yadav, and Manav Suthar. These players played the least role in IPL 2024, and it looks unlikely GT will be after them in the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

Now, if we talk about the gaps that Gujarat Titans have, we are looking at the backups for the Overseas players cause they currently have David Miller, Rashid Khan, Noor Ahmad, and Joshua Little. So, they need four more overseas players. The team also need a solid finisher alongside Miller, and also a good all-rounder. So, to fill these gaps, GT may look to invest in Rahmanullah Gurbaz as a wicket-keeper opener, and Rovman Powell as the finisher to backup David Miller.

Both Gurbaz and Powell are good players. While Gurbaz was already there with GT previously, they will be happy to see him back for the opening slot. Whereas Powell does have talent, and he will be a perfect ploy to play as a backup to David Miller. In addition, the team can look at Nathan Ellis as an Overseas pacer to complement Mohammed Shami, and Marco Jansen as the all-rounder pacer in the squad.  

Coming to Indian players, Krunal Pandya, the local boy shall be an ideal fit in the team for the All-rounder position. Him and Tewatia can form a solid pair as a finisher. Jitesh Sharma as the wicket-keeper finisher will also be an excellent choice in the team. It wouldn’t be difficult also to get these players in the Auction. Other than those, the likes of Atit Sheth and Prerak Mankad will be good value adds to the team.
