Chennai Super Kings team’s main headache shall be the selection of their openers. Conway has been a regular opener for CSK before he was ruled out last year. He has done well for CSK with more than 900 runs under his belt in the last two seasons. Similarly, Rachin is in prime form currently, and has also done well for CSK last year. Ideally, one of these two should play. But knowing CSK, they might opt for both players with Conway opening with Ruturaj, and Rachin playing at 3. 

With the top 3 settled, the likely batting order for CSK could be Rahul Tripathi at 4, Shivam Dube at 5, Ravindra Jadeja at 6, and MS Dhoni at 7. This is a strong batting-order, and Ashwin and Sam at 8 and 9 add solid batting depth. CSK can also look at bringing in Deepak Hooda as an impact player. There is slight inexperience in the lower-order with Robin Minz and Naman Dhir expected to play. 

While MI’s top 5 seem solid, the lower-order is a sign of concern. Similarly, Mumbai Indians will miss the services of Jasprit Bumrah. In his absence, Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar should lead the pace duties. Whereas the spin duties shall be taken care by Mitchell Santner and Karn Sharma.
