Abhimanyu Easwaran appointed as the Captain for the India A vs England 2025 three First-class matches squad and players list starting May 30.
Amidst the Indian Premier League storm that we are witnessing, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on May 16 officially announced the squad for Team India for the three First-class match series against England in England. Regarded as the preparation series for the all-important 5-match series in the WTC Cycle 2025-27, BCCI has selected a strong 18-member squad with the right mix of experienced and young players.
As expected, the Indian team will be led by emerging opener Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has been a consistent batter in the Domestic circuit, but has never gotten an opportunity to represent the Indian Team in the whites. But this 3-match series could well decide the future of not only Abhimanyu Easwaran, but also a lot of young Indian players who dream of playing for the Indian in whites.
Among star players who have been selected for the tour, and who also represent the Indian Cricket Team in some or the other formats include Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dhruv Jurel, Ishan Kishan, Nitish Reddy, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Khaleel Ahmed, Mukesh Kumar, Shardul Thakur, and Tushar Deshpande. These players have or are representing the Indian team currently, and are in strong contention for the Indian whites.

Imp Note: Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan will join the squad before the 2nd match.
The BCCI has selected a strong 18-member squad for the series. This includes 5 pure batters, 2 wicket-keepers, 3 all-rounders, and 8 pure bowlers. Among spinners, we will be seeing the likes of Manav Suthar, Harsh Dubey, and Tanush Kotian. While Manav and Harsh are left-arm spinners, Tanush is an off-spinner. Thankfully, all three are more than potent batters, and are likely the potential replacements for Ashwin, Jadeja, and Axar.
Among the pacers, we will see a solid bunch with the likes of Anshul Kamboj, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Shardul Thakur, Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, and Tushar Deshpande. A total of 6 pacers have been selected for the tour, and that shows how series BCCI is in finding the right set of bowlers for the England Test series. This will be a good Test for these pacers as at least 2-3 will be featuring in the Test team.
All eyes will also be on the batters given how fragile our batting lineup has been in the past in England. Among the start batters, we will see Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Karun Nair, and two more, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, who will join the team from the 2nd match onwards. Most likely we will see these batters play at least a couple of matches to be able to showcase their talent in this crucial format.
