India vs Zimbabwe 2024 T20 Series Best Predicted Playing 11
Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal to open as we look at the India vs Zimbabwe 2024 series best T20 playing 11.
11 years!! Yes, that’s the time the Indian team had to wait to get their hand on their fourth ICC Trophy. 2013 was the last time India won an ICC tournament, – that was Champions Trophy 2013 under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Back then was the restart of Rohit Sharma’s International career, and 11 years down the line, we won the T20 under his Captaincy itself.
What an amazing way to end your T20I career with a World Cup 2024 Trophy. Two of the greatest servants of Indian Cricket, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have called it quits from T20Is with a focus for them shifting to Tests and ODIs. The world and cricket fans will miss these two amazingly wonderful players, but with that, the new chapter of Indian cricket unfolds.
The Indian team or we can say the young Indian team will now move to Zimbabwe for the 5-match T20 series starting July 6. Except for a few players, we will be seeing a completely new setup from the one that played in the T20 World Cup 2024. With a lot of senior players being rested, Shubman Gill will lead the Indian team for the first time ever in his career. Given that 12 of the selected 15 players are new players, let’s look at the Strongest playing 11 that Team India can adopt for the 2024 T20 series vs Zimbabwe.

India vs Zimbabwe 2024 T20 Series Playing 11 Breakup
Starting with the openers, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli aren’t in the Indian team anymore after the duo announced their retirement. With these two not there, Captain Shubman Gill and dynamic opener Yashasvi Jaiswal should be the first-choice openers for the Indian team in T20Is. While Yashasvi was already a backup opener in the T20 WC, Gill as Captain means a confirmed opening slot for these two.
With Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal set to open, Sanju Samson should most-likely bat at number 3 position in place of Rishabh Pant, who has been rested. Sanju was the backup keeper in the Indian T20 World Cup team. So, Dhruv Jurel, the other wicket-keeper will have to wait for his opportunity to represent the Indian team in T20Is.
Riyan Parag to Debut?
Coming to the middle-order, Riyan Parag should mostly make his debut, and bat at number 4 position like he did for Rajasthan Royals. With Riyan Parag at number 4, Shivam Dube should bat at number 5 and Rinku Singh should play the role of a finisher at number 6. It’s a good setup for the Indian team with role clarity in terms of batting-order.
While India played two all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel at 7 and 8 in the T20 World Cup, the same flexibility won’t be available with the team for the Zimbabwe tour. So, expect only Washington Sundar to donn that role a number 7. Other than Sundar, India have Abhishek Sharma too, but it seems, he is chosen for the opening slot than an all-rounder finisher.
Finally, talking about the bowling, it’s a complete revamp from the one that we saw in the T20 World Cup. With Bumrah, Arshdeep, and Kuldeep not there, Avesh Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, and Mukesh Kumar should fulfill their role. These four are the best bowlers among the current lot, so they should get an opportunity above anyone else.

So, that’s about the best playing 11 that Team India can adopt for the India vs Zimbabwe 2024 T20 series. Overall, this looks like the likely playing 11, but in case India decide to opt for Ruturaj Gaikwad, Riyan Parag may have to make the way. In that situation, Sanju Samson will then play at the number 4 position. This is definitely a possibility, so we will have to see what strategy does Team India adopt.
