India vs Australia 2024 1st Test Best Playing 11 – No Rohit Sharma
Nitish Reddy set to make his debut in our best predicted playing 11 for the India vs Australia 2024 1st Test match 2024 at Perth.
November 22nd will mark the beginning of India’s toughest battle in the World Test Championship 2023-25 series. Not only is the series the toughest for the Indian team, but it is also very important with the WTC final at stake. Team India are currently second in the WTC points table, and a whitewash against New Zealand at home has dented not only their confidence but also their chances of qualifying for the WTC final.
But with the series already so important, India have already suffered big blows ahead of the first Test. Firstly, Team India will be without their Captain and opener, Rohit Sharma, who is not available for the first Test match due to parental duties. Secondly, India will be without Shubman Gill, who injured himself in the match simulation session. Thirdly, India will be without Mohammed Shami, who is yet to recover from the injury he sustained last year.
With so many issues already in place, the Indian team must already be in deep analysis as to what playing 11 they adopt for the 1st Test match. The first test match as we know will be played at Perth, and there will be extreme bounce and pace on the wickets. So, not only will pacers get good assistance, but from the third day onwards, there will spin playing a good role with bounce already assisting them. So, as we wait for the match to begin, let’s in the meantime look at the India vs Australia 1st Test match best predicted playing 11 for both teams.

India vs Australia 2024 Test Playing 11 Explored:
The Indian team will be facing their biggest hurdle of the series as they select their playing 11 for the 1st Test match at Perth. With Rohit Sharma not available, India will have to play one of Abhimanyu Easwaran or KL Rahul as the opener. With both players not doing well for India A, the ideal option would be KL Rahul, who does have some experience of playing in Australia, and has also done well. So, expect KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal to open in the first Test match.
The number 3 position will again be critical for Team India. Shubman Gill has been injured, so India will have to play someone in place of Gill to not change the batting order much. Among the potential options, India can ask Easwaran to pay at 3, or have Dhurv Jurel play at that position as a temporary measure. Between both, Dhruv seems an ideal option given his current form after scoring solid runs while playing for India A.
So, with the top 3 decided, India will mostly continue with the same middle-order. So, expect Virat Kohli to play at 4, Rishabh Pant to play at 5, and Sarfaraz Khan to play at 6. It will be interesting to see how India’s middle order performs. While Virat Kohli is out of form, Sarfaraz will be tested on bouncy Perth wickets. So, Rishabh Pant’s role will once again become important for the Indian team to score runs.
Nitish Reddy to Debut?
With the top 6 batters finalized, now is the turn of the All-rounders. Given the bouncy Perth condition, India will have to play a fast-bowling all-rounder. So, among the current names, we should see Nitish Reddy make his debut, and occupy either number 7 or number 8 position. This won’t be the most ideal option, but India will have to take this risk sooner or later, so why not in the first Test match itself?
Finally, coming to the howling, India will go ahead with 3 pacers with support from Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Reddy. It will be very harsh to drop either Ashwin or Sunder, but two spinners may not be required on the Perth pitch. So, expect Team India to go ahead with the pace trio of Akash Deep, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja as the sole spinner.
