If there’s one team that has received immense criticism and hate at the same time in 2024, it is the Mumbai Indians. Ever since their abrupt announcement of making Hardik Pandya as the Captain of their side, things have gone haywire for the MI team with almost entire Rohit Sharma mocking the franchise on Social Media.

While mocking the franchise was one thing, the Social Media warriors along with Stadium warriors didn’t leave any stone unturned as Hardik Pandya was bashed left and right for taking up the Captaincy, and also leaving a successful franchise like Gujarat Titans in a soup.

Even as fans started bashing the franchise left and right, Mumbai Indians’ current form hasn’t helped either. They were undoubtedly one of the strongest teams on paper ahead of the tournament. But unfortunately, the team has now lost the first three matches, which also happens to be the first time since 2008 they have faced such a strong setback.

In addition, MI have been severely hit by injuries this season. Apart from Suryakumar Yadav, who had been recovering at the NCA since a couple of weeks, Mumbai Indians lost two solid pacers due to injury in the form of Jason Behrendorff and Dilshan Madhudhanka. Batters – Dewald Brevis (f), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma & Tim David (f)

When it comes to the batters of Mumbai Indians, they have a solid batting attack with the likes of Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma, and Tim David. It’s a great setup for the Mumbai Indians, and we can definitely expect them to play four of these five amazing batters in their first-choice playing 11.

WKs – Ishan Kishan & Vishnu Vinod

Talking about wicket-keepers, Mumbai Indians don’t have a lot of options with them. There are only two wicket-keepers, and those are Ishan Kishan and Vishnu Vinod. Given the lack of options, Mumbai Indians will have to play one of these wicket-keepers with Ishan Kishan being the most probably one. In terms of All-rounders, Mumbai Indians don’t have a lot of quality options with them. Hardik Pandya is their best all-rounder, but apart from him, there are only Mohammad Nabi and Romario Shephard among the renowned names. Other than these three, all are rookie youngsters, who may not be that dependable.

Finally, talking about the bowlers, Mumbai Indians have got two big changes in the squad in this department. The team lost Dilshan Madhudhanka and Jason Behrendorff due to injury ahead of the season. In their place, Mumbai Indians brought in Kwena Maphaka and Luke Wood respectively. This is the only change in the pace department, which is led by Jasprit Bumrah.
