Punjab Kings Best Playing 11 Explained

Punjab Kings will be facing big challenges while finalizing their playing 11 for IPL 2025. It’s almost a revamped squad with Shashank Singh and Prabsimran Singh being the only players who featured in IPL 2024. With a revamped squad in place, what playing 11 will PBKS go ahead with will be interesting. What we know so far is that Shreyas Iyer will bat at 3, and Prabsimran Singh will open.

With two spots decided, selecting another opener will be a headache for Punjab Kings. The team currently has three options in the form of experienced Marcus Stoinis and Josh Inglis, and inexperience in the form of Priyansh Arya. It will be interesting what PBKS choose. If PBKS choose Arya, they will have two inexperienced openers to face the new ball, but that also means they will be strengthening their bowling by playing Lockie Ferguson mostly. 

Meanwhile, if PBSK choose one of Josh Inglis or Marcus Stoinis, the team will get a solid experienced opener, and the other Overseas batter can play as a finisher. However, in this case, PBKS may be without the services of Lockie Ferguson, and will have to rely on the bowling of Kuldeep Sen or Yash Thakur. This also isn’t a bad situation to be in. But ideally, PBKS shouldn’t start with Arya, and should strengthen their batting, which is already full of inexperience.

Aside from this, Shashank Singh should bat at 4, Glenn Maxwell at 5, Nehal Wadhera at 6, and Marcus Stoinis at 7. With two experienced and two inexperienced batters in the middle-order, PBKS can play smartly to avoid breakdown. The team also has Marco Jansen and Harpreet Brar to strengthen the batting. With 8 batters there, PBKS also have a strong bowling attack with the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Sen, and other all-rounders leading the attack.
