Punjab Kings Best Playing 11 IPL 2025 – PBKS Exclusive Report
A restart under Shreyas Iyer in our best squad analysis and playing 11 for Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
One of the only few teams to not have won an IPL trophy, the Punjab Kings team has always been in the limelight but for the wrong reasons. The team has time and again changed their leadership group in the last 17 years, and have had multiple Captains leading the side. Right from Yuvraj to Sangakkara, Sehwag, Bailey, Ashwin, KL Rahul, Curran, Dhawan, etc. With so many Captains over the years, have they finally found the best yet in the form of Shreyas Iyer?
PBKS went all-out on Shreyas Iyer in the Auction by spending 26.75 Cr to acquire his services. It was Iyer’s leadership that PBKS wanted badly, and they finally got it. But can Iyer change the fortune of this team, and will he get the desired support that has always been missing from the PBKS management? Well, the team certainly has a few solid players in their side, but they do also come with a few weaknesses in the side.
PBKS SWOT Analysis 2025 IPL
If we start with the strengths of Punjab Kings this season, it has to be their bowling. The team has really good experienced bowlers in their side with almost all bowlers carrying significant experience. Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal will lead the pace and spin duties for PBKS. Whereas they will have good support from Marco Jansen, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell, and Harpreet Brar. All bowlers carry good experience, and that should give more comfort to Shreyas Iyer while managing his troops.
While PBKS’s main strength is their bowling, the presence of inexperience in their batting is their major weakness. Barring Shreyas Iyer, Marcus Stoinis, and Glenn Maxwell, PBSK will be relying on the likes of Prabsimran Singh, Shashank Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Priyansh Arya, Shreyansh Shedge, etc. While all these are talented players, there is no denying of inexperience there, and this could be visible in pressure matches.

Punjab Kings Best Playing 11 Explained
Punjab Kings will be facing big challenges while finalizing their playing 11 for IPL 2025. It’s almost a revamped squad with Shashank Singh and Prabsimran Singh being the only players who featured in IPL 2024. With a revamped squad in place, what playing 11 will PBKS go ahead with will be interesting. What we know so far is that Shreyas Iyer will bat at 3, and Prabsimran Singh will open.
With two spots decided, selecting another opener will be a headache for Punjab Kings. The team currently has three options in the form of experienced Marcus Stoinis and Josh Inglis, and inexperience in the form of Priyansh Arya. It will be interesting what PBKS choose. If PBKS choose Arya, they will have two inexperienced openers to face the new ball, but that also means they will be strengthening their bowling by playing Lockie Ferguson mostly.
Meanwhile, if PBSK choose one of Josh Inglis or Marcus Stoinis, the team will get a solid experienced opener, and the other Overseas batter can play as a finisher. However, in this case, PBKS may be without the services of Lockie Ferguson, and will have to rely on the bowling of Kuldeep Sen or Yash Thakur. This also isn’t a bad situation to be in. But ideally, PBKS shouldn’t start with Arya, and should strengthen their batting, which is already full of inexperience.
Aside from this, Shashank Singh should bat at 4, Glenn Maxwell at 5, Nehal Wadhera at 6, and Marcus Stoinis at 7. With two experienced and two inexperienced batters in the middle-order, PBKS can play smartly to avoid breakdown. The team also has Marco Jansen and Harpreet Brar to strengthen the batting. With 8 batters there, PBKS also have a strong bowling attack with the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Sen, and other all-rounders leading the attack.
