IPL 2024: Ranking the Player with Best Strike Rate for Each Team
Abhishek Sharma at the summit as we look at the ranking of the player with the best batting strike rate for each team in IPL 2024.
The IPL 2024 has so far been a revelation in terms of the hitting ability that we have seen among teams. Innumerable times we have seen the score of 200 breaching comfortably. Such has been the hitting at display at even 250+ has been breached a lot of times this IPL. In fact, Sunrisers Hyderabad has scored 250+ thrice; the first such instance in all IPL history.
While teams like Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders have been a revelation this season in terms of the hitting at display, how about the other teams? Well, other teams aren’t far either as players have played with a lot of freedom and aggression this season. So, let’s look at the best player for each team, and compare the strike rate at which they have played the 2024 IPL season.
IPL 2024 All 10 Teams Best Batting Strike Rate for Each Team
David Miller for Gujarat Titans
Amidst a flood in IPL 2024 in the form of fours and sixes and highest scores, Gujarat Titans are one team that is still playing traditional cricket. With a strike rate of 151.56, David Miller has the best strike rate for his team, but unsurprisingly, he is 26th on the list of best strike rates this season. With only a few matches left, it will be interesting to see where Miller ends this season.
Riyan Parag for Rajasthan Royals
Following Miller is Riyan Parag, who has been a revelation this season, and has also scored runs in bulk at a good strike rate. Riyan has so far managed to score 409 runs at a good strike rate of 159.1. While he is 17th on the list of best strike rates this season, his counterparts, Sanju Samson and Yashassvi Jaiswal aren’t far behind with a strike rate of 159 and 157 respectively.
Nicholas Pooran for Lucknow Super Giants
Talking about Lucknow Super Giants, and you won’t find a better striker than Nicholas Pooran. Leading the team in terms of aggressiveness, Pooran has scored 305 runs so far at a strike rate of 160.5. While the strike rate seems relatively less given his hitting ability, one main reason to see is the Lucknow pitches, which have relatively been challenging for the batters.
Suryakumar Yadav from Mumbai Indians
After missing the initial few matches due to injury, Suryakumar Yadav has made a stunning comeback by striking gold so far this season. He has scored 232 runs already from just 8 innings at a solid strike rate of 168.1. Although the stats don’t highlight the quality SKY has, his striking numbers show, that he was never out of form, and this is a really good sign for India with T20 World in mind.
Shashank Singh for Punjab Kings
The third uncapped player in the list, who has played with utmost authority and freedom, it is Shashank Singh. Things were looking scary for Shashank Singh, who was also confused in the Auction for another Shashank. But what a stunning reply to anyone who doubted his place in the team. The leading run-getter for PBKS this season has scored 288 runs at an amazing strike rate of 169.4. He is the 11th batter in the best strike rate list, and with a few more matches to go, he can as well improve on these numbers.
Shivam Dube Chennai Super Kings
Donning the role of a middle-order batter is not easy, unless you are Shivam Dube. Shivam has played this role to perfection, and has scored a solid 350 runs at a strike rate of 171.56. He is 9th on the list of highest strike rate this season, and best for CSK so far. Courtesy of his batting, Dube also got a place in the Indian T20 World Cup team.
Phil Salt from Kolkata Knight Riders
Phil Salt has been a revelation for the Kolkata Knight Riders this season after coming in as a replacement for Jason Roy. He alongside Narine has been the two most aggressive openers in the IPL. Phil Salt currently has scored 397 runs at a strike rate of 180.45. Salt has scored 67 fours and sixes; the second-highest among all players so far.
Tristan Stubbs Delhi Capitals
If there is one player from the 10 players mentioned here who wouldn’t have been a part of first-choice playing had Harry Brook been there, it is Tristan Stubbs. Stubbs batted with supreme authority this season, and could well be in lines for the best finisher spot. Stubbs scored a solid 277 runs this season so far at a breathtaking strike rate of 185.9.
Dinesh Karthik from Royal Challengers Bengaluru
Number 2 on this list is Dinesh Karthik, who has kind of been the second-best batter for Royal Challengers Bengaluru this season. After a lull IPL 2023, Dinesh continues his 2022 form as he has so far scored 264 runs at a superb strike rate of 192.7. His current strike rate is third overall with only Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma in front of him. With this being Dinesh’s last year, he for sure is finishing on a high.
Abhishek Sharma for Sunrisers Hyderabad
Abhishek Sharma not only has the best batting strike rate for SRH but also the best strike rate among all teams at 208.6. He has played aggressively right from ball 1, and in the process has managed a stunning 316 runs from just 151 balls. He is also the only player to have a 200+ strike rate having scored 100 runs or more. With Abhishek expected to play 4-5 more matches, it would be interesting to see if he is able to maintain that strike rate.
So, that’s about the best strike rate for each team in IPL 2024.
