IPL 2025 Retained Players and Best Price List for All 10 Teams
18 Cr assigned as the highest price in our final best retained players list for all 10 teams for IPL 2025.
One of the most exciting events of the year, the Indian Premier League 2025 Mega Auction is just a month away, and each one of us is eagerly waiting for the showdown in November. But before we get to the Mega Auction, all teams have to submit their IPL 2025 retained players list by October, end. As per the new rules, the teams can retain or RTM a maximum of 6 players, which is already a great step from what we saw in IPL 2022.
In a historic move, BCCI has made some really amazing changes in the way each team will be allowed to make their retentions. The BCCI has removed the restriction of retaining limited Indian or Overseas players, and instead given the freedom to choose any player of their choice. From the pricing perspective, the first retention will cost 18 Cr, the second retention will cost 14 Cr, the third will cost 11 Cr, the fourth will cost 18 Cr, the fifth will cost 14 Cr, and for uncapped, it will cost 4 Cr.
Given the change in the retention pricing, each team will have to take extra care before they go about retaining their players. This is where RTMs will play a major role, and Instead of retaining players at a higher price, they can always take a bet, and wait for the Auction to RTM those players at an appropriate cost. So, with just a few weeks left before teams submit their official retained players list, let’s in the meantime analyze the squad of each team, and find out the best possible retained players that each team will retain for IPL 2025.
IPL 2025 Final Retained Players List for Each Team
Chennai Super Kings Best Retained Players List – IPL 2025
- Ravindra Jadeja – 18 Cr
- Ruturaj Gaikwad – 14 Cr
- Shivam Dube – 11 Cr
- MS Dhoni – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 4 // RTM Spots Left: 2 // Purse Left: 73 Cr
If we talk about Chennai Super Kings, they should mostly retain Ravindra Jadeja as the first player for 18 Cr, Ruturaj Gaikwad as the second player for 14 Cr, Shivam Dube as the third player for 11 Cr, and MS Dhoni as the uncapped player for 4 Cr. They have two more spots, and mostly Overseas players like Pathirana, Conway, and Santner in contention. However, retaining them for 18 Cr and 14 Cr makes little sense. Hence, using RTM cards on them will be the best way forward for CSK.
Delhi Capitals Best Retained Players – IPL 2025
- Rishabh Pant – 18 Cr
- Axar Patel – 14 Cr
- Kuldeep Yadav – 11 Cr
- Abhishek Porel – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 4 // RTM Spots Left: 2 // Purse Left: 73 Cr
Delhi Capitals will mostly retain only four players including one uncapped player. The team will see Rishabh Pant retained for 18 Cr, Axar Patel for 14 Cr, Kuldeep Yadav for 11 Cr, and uncapped Abhishek Porel for 4 Cr. The team may not go beyond this as retaining players like Stubbs, Fraser-McGurk, etc., will be too costly. So, Delhi will mostly use two RTMs on Overseas players, and that way, they can save a good amount of money.
Gujarat Titans Best Retained Players – IPL 2025
- Shubman Gill – 18 Cr
- Rashid Khan – 14 Cr
- Mohammed Shami – 11 Cr
- Mohit Sharma – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 4 // RTM Spots Left: 2 // Purse Left: 73 Cr
Similar to CSK and Delhi, Gujarat Titans will also retain four players, but unlike the other two teams, GT will have an Overseas player, Rashid Khan retained for 14 Cr. Shubman Gill will undoubtedly be retained for 18 Cr, and as a third player, Mohammed Shami will see the retention at 11 Cr. From uncapped player, Mohit Sharma seems an ideal bet for 4 Cr. Other than these four, the likes of Miller, Tewatia, and Sudharsan will mostly be bought back via RTM in the Mega Auction.
Kolkata Knight Riders Best Retained Players – IPL 2025
- Shreyas Iyer – 18 Cr
- Andre Russell – 14 Cr
- Rinku Singh – 11 Cr
- Angkrish Raghuvanshi – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 4 // RTM Spots Left: 2 // Purse Left: 73 Cr
KKR will also go ahead with retaining four players for IPL 2025. They will mostly go about retaining Shreyas Iyer for 18 Cr, Andre Russell for 14 Cr, and uncapped player Angkrish Raghuvanshi for 4 Cr. For the third player, KKR will have to choose between Sunil Narine and Rinku Singh for 11 Cr. Of the two, retaining Rinku Singh for 11 Cr will be a wise option as in the Auction, Rinku will be valued more than Sunil Narine. So, with two RTM spots left, KKR will have Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, Phil Salt, Venkatesh Iyer, Mitchell Starc, and Harshit Rana under the radar. Harshit Rana for the time being seems uncapped, but it is highly likely he will become capped during the Bangladesh T20 series itself.
Lucknow Super Giants Best Retained Players – IPL 2025
- KL Rahul – 18 Cr
- Nicholas Pooran – 14 Cr
- Marcus Stoinis – 11 Cr
- Ayush Badoni – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 4 // RTM Spots Left: 2 // Purse Left: 73 Cr
LSG will also go about retaining only four players for IPL 2025. It’s unfortunate for them, but Mayank Yadav can’t be retained as an uncapped player anymore. So, LSG should go about retaining KL Rahul for 18 Cr, Nicholas Pooran for 14 Cr, Marcus Stoinis for 11 Cr, and Ayush Badoni as an uncapped player for 4 Cr. With two RTM options left, LSG will see Quinton de Kock, Mayank Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi as potential contenders.
Mumbai Indians Best Retained Players List – IPL 2025
- Hardik Pandya – 18 Cr
- Suryakumar Yadav – 14 Cr
- Jasprit Bumrah – 14 Cr
- Rohit Sharma – 18 Cr
- Ishan Kishan – 11 Cr
- Nehal Wadhera – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 6 // RTM Spots Left: 0 // Purse Left: 41 Cr
Mumbai Indians must be the only team that will not only retain all 6 players, but all those players will be Indians. If MI are able to convince Rohit Sharma, which it does seem they will, then Hardik and Rohit will be retained for 18 Cr, and SKY and Bumrah will be retained for 14 Cr. For the fifth player, Ishan Kishan will be retained for 11 Cr, and Nehal Wadhera as an uncapped player for 4 Cr. If at all, Rohit Sharma doesn’t want to retain himself, then one from Bumrah or SKY will get 18 Cr, Ishan Kishan will get 14 Cr, and Tilak Varma will get 11 Cr.
Punjab Kings Best Retained Players – IPL 2025
- Shashank Singh – 4 Cr
- Ashutosh Sharma – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 2 // RTM Spots Left: 4 // Purse Left: 112 Cr
Punjab Kings may be the only team that will only retain two players, and those will be uncapped players. The team will for sure retain Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma for 4 Cr as uncapped players. But other than these two, Punjab will have four RTM options, which they will use in the Auction. They can certainly retain capped players as well, but even for retaining one capped player, they will have to shell out 18 Cr, and seeing the players they have, there doesn’t seem to be any player who deserves that amount.
Rajasthan Royals Best Retained Players – IPL 2025
- Sanju Samson – 18 Cr
- Jos Buttler – 14 Cr
- Yashasvi Jaiswal – 11 Cr
- Sandeep Sharma – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 4 // RTM Spots Left: 2 // Purse Left: 73 Cr
Rajasthan Royals will also go about retaining only four players for IPL 2025. The team will retain Sanju Samson for 18 Cr, Jos Buttler for 14 Cr, Yashasvi Jaiswal for 11 Cr, and uncapped Sandeep Sharma for 4 Cr. Other than these four, RR will keep two RTM options open, and they will have the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Riyan Parag, Trent Boult, and Ravichandran Ashwin as the potential RTM contenders.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Best Retained Players List – IPL 2025
- Virat Kohli – 18 Cr
- Glenn Maxwell – 14 Cr
- Mohammed Siraj – 11 Cr
- Yash Dayal – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 4 // RTM Spots Left: 2 // Purse Left: 73 Cr
RCB will go about retaining four players for IPL 2025. They will mostly retain Virat Kohli for 18 Cr, Glenn Maxwell for 14 Cr, Mohammed Siraj for 11 Cr, and uncapped Yash Dayal for 4 Cr. For uncapped players, RCB have options in the form of Anuj Rawat, Mahipal Lomror, Shubham Dubey, and Suyash Prabhudessai, but they will mostly settle for Yash Dayal. RCB will keep two RTM options, and they will have Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green, and Will Jacks among probable contenders.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Best Retained Players – IPL 2025
- Pat Cummins – 18 Cr
- Heinrich Klaasen – 14 Cr
- Abhishek Sharma – 11 Cr
- Abdul Samad – 4 Cr
Players To Retain: 4 // RTM Spots Left: 2 // Purse Left: 73 Cr
Finally, talking about SRH, they will see Pat Cummins and Heinrich Klaasen as the retained Overseas players for 18 Cr and 14 Cr respectively. They also have Travis Head, but they will keep him in the Auction, and use an RTM for him. SRH will also retain Abhishek Sharma for 11 Cr, and uncapped Abdul Samad for 4 Cr. Unfortunately for them, Nitish Reddy is no longer an uncapped player. Meanwhile, for RTM, SRH have options in the form of Travis Head, T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Nitish Reddy.
