We are already in the third week of IPL 2024, and we are seeing really exciting Indian bowlers given some stunning performances. Given the demand-supply issue, Overseas pacers have always been in demand in the Indian Premier League. But things seem to have changed now as Indian pacers have been moving up the ranks with a lot of new and exciting names coming up. 

When it comes to pacers, each team generally needs 3-4 good pacers in their side in each match. These are the pacers that generally represent their side in most matches of the tournament. So, if we were to compare all 10 teams for their pace bowling lineup, let’s analyze the top 4 pacers of each team, and find out which team has the best pacers ranking for IPL 2024. 

#10 – Lucknow Super Giants

Top Four Pacers for LSG: Naveen Ul-Haq, Matt Henry, Shamar Joseph & Mohsin Khan

No surprise with this one as it is easy to guess that Lucknow Super Giants have the worst pace attack even if you don’t analyze their bowling. With Mark Wood gone from the team, who was their best pacer and bowler, the team now has Naveen ul-haq as their best pacer. The team also has Matt Henry and Shamar Joseph, but these two haven’t played in IPL as yet. The team is mostly relying on young Indian pacers led by Mohsin Khan, and supported by Yash Thakur, Mayank Yadav, and Shivam Mavi.

Number 9 can surprise you as we have the Rajasthan Royals team with only seven pacers in their side for IPL 2024. While seven is the least number of pacers for any side this year, we are comparing only the top 4 pacers. The team undoubtedly has Trent Boult as their best pacer for IPL 2024. While Nandre Burger is a great addition, he is only playing his first IPL. Whereas the likes of Avesh Khan and Sandeep Sharma aren’t the most potent options.

Number 8 shouldn’t surprise as Gujarat Titans’ pace quality has fallen considerably since the loss of Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya. The team now has Mohit Sharma as their best pacer, who actually is doing a great job for them. However, other than him, the other two best pacers, Spencer Johnson and Azmatullah Omerzai are yet to make a significant impact in the bowling so far. In addition, Joshua Little hasn’t played any match, and instead, GT have played Umesh Yadav, who also has been decent.

Number 7 sees Kolkata Knight Riders, who have 10 pacers in their side for IPL 2024. The team purchased Mitchell Starc as not only the most expensive pacer in IPL but also the most expensive player in the history of IPL. While Starc is their best pacer, he has hardly contributed with the ball, while giving more than 100 runs in 8 overs. But young Harshit Rana has been impressive, and Andre Russell has played a good supporting role.

SRH does have a lot of pacers in their side, but none of them can be termed as outstanding as compared to the competition. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Marco Jansen, T Natarajan, and Pat Cummins are the team’s best pacers, and the same played in the first match too. But with overseas players’ restrictions, SRH will now have to depend on Jaydev Unadkat or Umran Malik to complete the pace setup.

But honestly, three of their top four pacers are overseas options, and they can afford to play only one of them. So, even as they have quality names, their on-ground performance will always be on the weaker side for the RCB.

The team has Matheesha Pathirana and Mustafizur Rahman as their best pacers, and thankfully, CSK are able to accommodate both of them in their playing 11. PBKS have Arshdeep Singh, Kagiso Rabada, Nathan Ellis, and Sam Curran as their four best pacers, and fortunately, they are able to play three of them. In addition, PBKS have Harshal Patel, who hasn’t looked effective completely, but has the potential to support his team. But it doesn’t stop here as the likes of Chris Woakes, Rishi Dhawan, and Vidhwath Kaperappa are waiting on the sidelines.
