IPL 2024: Ranking the Best Batting Lineup for All 10 Teams
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders among standouts as we look at the best batting contingent ranking for all 10 teams for IPL 2024.
Ever since the Impact player rule has taken center stage in the Indian Premier League, one thing that has benefitted the most, it is the batting lineup of each team. Given the flexibility of the impact player rule, it has allowed all teams to play that extra batter, thus giving them a great batting depth till 7-8 positions. Almost every team is getting benefitted out of it, and the ones suffering the most are the bowlers.
Considering the impact player rule, the players are getting more freedom to play their shots, and they don’t have to worry about putting their price on the wicket. But even after considering that, which team has the best batting contingent for IPL 2024? Well, to simplify our analysis, we will look at the current IPL form, and strongest lineup to look at the ranking of the batting lineup for all 10 Teams for IPL 2024.
IPL 2024 All 10 Teams Best Batting Contingent Ranking
Punjab Kings Best Batting Lineup
- Shikhar Dhawan (c)
- Rille Rossouw
- Prabsimran Singh
- Liam Livingstone
- Jitesh Sharma (wk)
- Sam Curran
- Shashank Singh
At number 10, we have the Punjab Kings. PBKS, on paper, have a decent but inexperienced batting attack. This is also visible in their performance as they don’t have a single player in the top 20 run getters. This batting lineup doesn’t look to inspire big run chases, and has often seen contributions from players in parts. While the likes of Dhawan and Livingstone are big names, they haven’t fired much this season.
Gujarat Titans Best Batting Lineup
- Shubman Gill (c)
- Wriddhiman Saha
- Sai Sudharsan
- David Miller
- Abhinav Manohar
- Shahrukh Khan
- Rahul Tewatia
Number 9 sees Gujarat Titans, and similar to PBKS, this lineup is only dependent on Shubman Gill. If Shubman Gill plays well, the Gujarat Titans team does well. But other than Gill, Sai Sudharsan has looked decent, and barring him and Tewatia to some extent, none of the other batters have had any decent contribution so far for Gujarat Titans for IPL 2024.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru Best Batting Lineup
- Faf du Plessis (c)
- Virat Kohli
- Will Jacks
- Rajat Patidar
- Cameron Green
- Dinesh Karthik (wk)
- Mahipal Lomror
At number 8, we have the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team, who are currently strangling at the bottom of the points table with just 1 win from 8 games. While RCB’s bowling is their weakness, their batting hasn’t contributed either with Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik being the only two players in the top 20 run getters. A lot was expected from Faf du Plessis, Maxwell, and Green, but these guys haven’t done anything valuable so far.
Delhi Capitals Best Batting Lineup
- David Warner
- Prithvi Shaw
- Jake Fraser-McGurk
- Abhishek Porel
- Rishabh Pant (c)
- Tristan Stubbs
- Axar Patel
At number 7, we have the Delhi Capitals team, who too have a good batting lineup on paper, but just haven’t lived up to the expectations. Of their top 7 batters, only Rishabh Pant, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs have looked good in the matches they have played so far. Meanwhile, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw have been the biggest disappointment for them.
Rajasthan Royals Best Batting Lineup
- Jos Buttler
- Yashasvi Jaiswal
- Sanju Samson (c&wk)
- Riyan Parag
- Shimron Hetmyer
- Dhruv Jurel
- Rovman Powell
Number 6 belongs to Rajasthan Royals, and their top 4 batters are the main reason for that. Even as Yashasvi Jaiswal for the first half and Jos Buttler for the initial few matches had a below-par IPL, the Rajasthan Royals batting lineup has been excellent, thanks to Sanju Samson and Riyan Parag. Whereas the likes of Hetmyer, Jurel, and Powell have blown hot and cold so far.
Mumbai Indians Best Batting Lineup
- Rohit Sharma
- Ishan Kishan (wk)
- Suryakumar Yadav
- Tilak Varma
- Hardik Pandya (c)
- Nehal Wadhera
- Tim David
Number 5 belongs to the Mumbai Indians team, and honestly, their batting lineup is way better than what their ranking suggests. The team has few of the biggest names on paper to fill their batting-order, but as a team, they haven’t had the success as desired. Fortunately, their inexperienced batters Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera have contributed well in the batting, but others like Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, and Tim David have been disappointing.
Lucknow Super Giants Best Batting Lineup
- KL Rahul (c&wk)
- Quinton de Kock
- Deepak Hooda
- Marcus Stoinis
- Nicholas Pooran
- Ayush Badoni
- Krunal Pandya
At number 4, we have the Lucknow Super Giants team. KL Rahul is leading a strong batting lineup that has seen some really good contributions from Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, and Nicholas Pooran. With these four doing most of the batting, the likes of Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, and Krunal Pandya too have had decent contributions so far.
Chennai Super Kings Best Batting Lineup
- Ruturaj Gaikwad (c)
- Ajinkya Rahane
- Daryl Mitchell
- Shivam Dube
- Ravindra Jadeja
- Sameer Rizvi
- MS Dhoni (wk)
Number 3 belongs to the Chennai Super Kings, and their flexibility and consistency in batting is what differentiates them. Even in the absence of Devon Conway, CSK have hardly been all out this season. Such has been the batting of this team that MS Dhoni is yet to get out this season. Overall, CSK have a strong batting lineup, and is definitely among the top 3 lineups this season.
Kolkata Knight Riders Best Batting Lineup
- Phil Salt (wk)
- Sunil Narine
- Angkrish Raghuvanshi
- Venkatesh Iyer
- Shreyas Iyer (c)
- Rinku Singh
- Andre Russell
Number 2 belongs to the Kolkata Knight Riders team, and Gautam Gambhir is one of the main reasons for that. The resurgence of Sunil Narine as an opener has turned KKR into a batting beast. With a terrific opening duo of Phil Salt and Sunil Narine, KKR have Venkatesh Iyer and Shreyas Iyer to stabilize before seeing Rinku Singh and Andre Russell take the attack to the opposition.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Best Batting Lineup
- Travis Head
- Abhishek Sharma
- Nitish Reddy
- Aiden Markram
- Heinrich Klaasen (wk)
- Abdul Samad
- Shahbaz Ahmed
Finally, at numero uno, we have the Sunrisers Hyderabad team, and there shouldn’t even be a debate about it. SRH have defined the batting this season with three 250+ scores already. The team is seeing extraordinary contributions from Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma at the top, Aidem Markram and Heinrich Klaasen in middle overs, and Abdul Samad and Shahbaz Ahmed as the finishers. No other team currently matches the capability that the SRH team brings in.
